If you like to create music and want to have your own album one day, it will be important to meet musicians who get along with you. Aside from having the same musical interests, having the same life style will go along way. Find out how ambitious potential band members are about how successful the band should or will be. If you have one band member that decides everyone should quit their day job to become rock stars, you should make it clear in the beginning whether everyone can afford, or is willing to quit their jobs or not. If a band member has a wife or husband at home with young children and long hours at work, other band members should be comfortable having a band practice without that member because no matter how you look at it, that band member will need to skip out on band practice every once in a while. Some other questions you should ask all potential or current band members so that your music career runs smoothly include:
- How many times do you want to practice a week?
- Do you want to play the same type of music?
- Do you always want to play cover songs, or create original music?
- Do you want to play shows or record music or both?
- How often do you want to play gigs, and how far are you willing to go to please your fans?
When you find musicians available as a potential band members, remember to deal with a few things up front to avoid frustration and to increase your chances of forming a successful band.
